I have discovered two hidden gems in the city.....
A coworker recently took me to the secret cellar in the new Andaz hotel on 5th Avenue. I am so happy to have discovered this hideout a smack in the middle of dreadful midtown! There is such a unique feel to this hotel. There are open kitchens, party spaces, and a hidden cellar bar/restaurant. You start to feel like Alice & Wonderland as doors that seem to lead to nowhere, really open into a bustling swanky cocktail room. Look out for the rat statues! The all male staff is incredible and flirtatious. The important thing though is you are completely taken out of the stale midtown feel.
Last week a friend introduced a group of us to Beauty & Essex (146 Essex Street, http://www.beautyandessex.com/). You walk into a bizarre looking guitar shop in the middle of nowhere LES. Once you make it through the back door, you lose your breathe. You enter into this enormous space that has a romantic charm of a 1940's nightclub. There is a truly massive dining room on 2 different levels. There are lounge areas hidden on each floor that would make the perfect spot to celebrate a special occasion. We sipped specialty cocktails and ate random appetizers like spiced chicken meatballs & salt & vinegar fries. The greatest discovery however was the champagne bar in the women's bathroom. It is tastefully separated, so you can gossip and sip on rose bubbly with the gals. The only catch is you lose track of time! We returned to the boys maybe 30 minutes later.

About Me
- Knockout Blondes
- Two five-ten blondes fighting against the stereotype to find love, success, and a way to pay the rent. *** We're passionate about our seriously stressful careers in the apex of the luxury fashion world. (No, it's not like the Devil Wears Prada- our Devils only wear custom and pay for their anonymity.) *** We're on the search for the elusive 'great' guy (who must be intimidated because we can't find him anywhere). Being 5'10" and blonde is a double-edged sword. Our stories are fucking ridiculous. *** Fortunately and unfortunately for us, we share the same story as millions of women who have been violated: we are determined to make a difference in the lives of women who have seen too much. *** WELCOME TO OUR WORLD.
