I shared my thoughts with Scorpio last night on my dismal dating status. We both admitted to ourselves that we fell victim to dating many Mr. Wrongs because we were not ready to settle down with Mr. Right. I have made a vow to stop dating men that I know are not right for me and will never be in my future. Even though I am not heartbroken when the expected happens, it still stings and brings my confidence down unnecessarily. Why am I upset when I know the inevitable ending before it even begins?

Scorpio succeeded in breaking the chain by really looking at characteristics of her Mr. Right and not settling for less. Now she can reap the benefits of a quality man who is in it for the long haul.

Don't worry Hef, you won't die of a broken heart like the press suggests, just try using your "other head" if you want someone to settle down with. A Playmate should only be considered as just that for a man in his 80's.

My Thoughts & Prayers

I have been sheltered from the outside world in my fashion bubble for the past 2 weeks. Over the past two days, I started to hear the name Lara Logan, but didn't pay any attention. Today, I was horrified after reading her story. For those of you who have not heard, Lara Logan is the CBS News Chief Foreign Correspondent who was attacked by a mob in Egypt. The picture above is especially disturbing as it was taken moments before the attack. I have copied the statement released by CBS.

"On Friday, Feb. 11, the day Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak stepped down, CBS chief foreign correspondent Lara Logan was covering the jubilation in Tahrir Square for a "60 Minutes" story when she and her team and their security were surrounded by a dangerous element amidst the celebration. It was a mob of more than 200 people whipped into frenzy.
In the crush of the mob, she was separated from her crew. She was surrounded and suffered a brutal and sustained sexual assault and beating before being saved by a group of women and an estimated 20 Egyptian soldiers. She reconnected with the CBS team, returned to her hotel and returned to the United States on the first flight the next morning. She is currently home recovering."

The terror that she must have experienced is beyond anything I even want to imagine. This makes Scorpio and I think of the awful training video SAVI made us watch of a gang rape. The reality of this situation is disgusting and sadly many other women share her experience. The downside for Lara is that her pain in a private moment is being broadcast all over the world. We can all learn something from Lara and I pray that she recovers and gains strength in the spotlight. My thoughts have been with her and her family all day and will continue to be with all women who live through their own experiences.

When I heard she was singing, I thought of Justin Bieber only more annoying. Then I watched the video, picked my jaw off of the floor, and felt I had to give her massive props for looking like Rihanna, only she mastered this genre at 9 years old!!

A Little Perspective

It was a cool, rainy morning in New York. As I sloshed through the crowded streets to work, I glanced at a blurb on the New York Times. It was about the UN's lack of control over the rebels in the Congo. As soon as I logged on at my desk I read the article below. The article ended with this line, haunting and heartbreaking:

“I know, I still look sick,” she said, though her cloudy eyes tried to smile as she spoke. “Just a few vegetables, that’s all I’ve eaten, since I was demolished.”

I learned that Anna is an 80 year old woman who was gang raped as her village was torn apart in Congo. She was just one of hundreds of women who suffered that night. They are helpless to these violent men and that should be terrifying for all women around the world.
